Managing Performance
Performance management is an
ongoing process jointly owned by managers and their staff and fueled
by continual two-way communication.
Participants will learn how to
establish and sustain an effective performance management
partnership with their staff to achieve high levels of performance
and accomplish business objectives. The course comprises
discussions, group exercises, and skill practice illustrating key
principles, tools, and techniques for setting agreed-upon,
measurable goals; monitoring performance; providing ongoing coaching
and exchanging feedback; and assessing overall performance. This is
a one-day program; however, stand-alone workshops are available for
more in-depth coverage of each phase of the performance management
process: planning and goal setting, coaching and feedback, and
performance assessment. |
Writing Performance Assessments
A well-written assessment requires
objective, comprehensive documentation of performance based on
evidence acquired over the entire appraisal period.
This half-day workshop takes
participants through the steps of writing assessments that provide a
balanced picture of staff performance: identifying sources of
information; gathering data; writing behaviorally based, legally
defensible statements; and assigning ratings. Learners will practice
writing assessment statements, discuss pitfalls to avoid, and
develop a list of questions to facilitate the performance assessment
discussion.
